Google Tap is one of the best videos i've ever seen.
Google Maps for NES, I am so glad they actually made a working version :

Amazon street view is not an april fools. It's real.
Google tech grants are pretty rad.
Even earlier than snowcrash, Ghost in the Shell's first storyline revolved
around a publicly broadcast hostage situation where the 'terrorist' hacked
everyone's eyes to overlay a 'Laughing Man' logo on his face. Only two
hobos who didn't have cybernetic eyes saw his real face. Check out the
effect for yourself with http://www.awgh.org/archives/21 , a processing +
openCV sketch that detects faces and replaces them with the logo.
If we want an open version of glass, I would attempt it like this:
1. Steal interface, make it a replacement for the android desktop
2. Test interface with a vuzix (I have one from kupo
http://www.vuzix.com/consumer/ )
3. Ask samsung for a small version of
http://www.samsung.com/us/business/oem-solutions/lcdpanels/transparent-lcd-panels.html
4. Hack up our own screen with
http://www.rosco.com/us/screens/roscoscreen.cfm#Grey + a pico projector
5. Add eye navigation with eyewriter
In fact, contacting Steve Mann and anyone from fffff.at who worked on
eyewriter might even be step 1. Steve Mann (
http://www.eecg.toronto.edu/~mann/ )has been doing this augmented reality
thing since 1980 and its been steadily improving since.
